THE MEANING OF 平安 — SAFE AND SOUND
平安 means peace, safety, and well-being—a heartfelt blessing wishing that life, home, and the people we care about remain safe and at peace. It is one of the most familiar and enduring Chinese blessings, often shared simply as a wish for someone to be well.
It can be said when someone is leaving on a journey, but its meaning reaches much further: coming home safely, watching your family grow, getting through a difficult season, simply having the people you love remain well.
More than the absence of trouble, 平安 carries a quiet hope for stability, protection, and the everyday peace of knowing that those we love are well.
THE SCRIPT — CLERICAL (隸書)
Rooted in ancient Chinese writing, Clerical Script is recognized by its broad, horizontal strokes and distinctive "silkworm head, swallow tail" (蠶頭燕尾) stroke endings. Developed from earlier forms of Chinese writing, it became an important standard script during the Han dynasty and remains one of the most admired forms of traditional Chinese calligraphy.
Its measured rhythm gives 平安 a sense of steadiness and calm, fitting for a blessing centered on peace and well-being.
